In this video I show you how I would build a DSLR kit for $300 and build your way up by hustling. I also make some comparisons to Sony Mirrorless as they're more expensive to get started with. I recommend you start with a basic camera like the Canon T2i. You'll want to buy that body used via eBay or Amazon. Add on a 50mm lens, like the Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 to do portraits. From there, add on some lights, a Sigma 17-50 and additional body. Try to secure smaller event gigs to raise funds. Then use those funds to upgrade to full-frame.
The Sony alpha a6300 can be had for only $699 if you put a little effort in reselling the kit lens that comes with it when buying grey market. You can actually get it for even cheaper if you have access to eBay bucks at the time of purchase. You can even apply some of these techniques to the Sony a6500 and even Sony a6000 buy selling the kit lens if you don't need it.
